A Form Fill Seal (FFS) Machine is an automatic packaging machine that forms a pouch from a continuous roll of packaging film, fills it with the required product, and seals the package in one integrated process.
The machine unwinds packaging film, forms it into the required pouch shape, dispenses the product into the pouch, seals the package, cuts it, and discharges the finished pack automatically.
Depending on the machine configuration, FFS machines can produce pillow pouches, center-seal bags, three-side or four-side seal pouches, sachets, stick packs, gusseted bags, and other flexible packaging formats.
A Vertical Form Fill Seal (VFFS) Machine forms a pouch vertically from a roll of film, fills it with the product, seals the pouch, and cuts it into individual packages.
A Horizontal Form Fill Seal (HFFS) Machine forms and seals packages horizontally and is commonly used for products such as biscuits, bakery items, bars, confectionery, and other individually packaged solid products.
Automation can increase production efficiency, provide consistent package dimensions, reduce manual labor, improve filling and sealing consistency, and support continuous production.
Depending on the product, an FFS machine may use auger fillers, volumetric cup fillers, multihead weighers, piston fillers, pump fillers, liquid fillers, or other suitable dosing systems.
The machine can use suitable heat-sealable flexible films, including laminated films, polyethylene-based films, polypropylene-based films, metallized structures, and other compatible packaging materials.
